Cape Cod Inspired Bedroom

Inspiration

Two Morgan Hill, CA homeowners wanted to redecorate their master bedroom. Some of the homeowners favorite vacation places included the Hamptons, Cape Cod, and Martha's Vineyard. They wanted their master bedroom to remind them of their travels to those favorite places.

Existing Bedroom Conditions

The bedroom was cluttered with many items and too much furniture. Existing furniture and window treatments were a combination of gifts from family members, purchased at discount stores, or were already in the room when they bought the  home.

Board and batten wainscoting was installed, the room was painted, shutters were installed, and new nightstands were purchased. Other accessories and pictures in the room came from the homeowner's existing collection.

The new wall color and the board and batten wainscoting really add to the feel of the Cape Cod inspired room. New shutters for the windows add value to the house. Accessories and art complete the northeastern seashore feeling of the room.

Circulation zones that show how people will move through the space are defined in the space planning process; you don't want furniture to get in the way of people's expected movements. The space plan is finished by adding the furniture, decor, accessory, and artwork details. Some times, there are conflicts that need to be resolved during the space planning process.
